Day 147 – May 5th, 2011

Happy Cinco De Mayo!!

This morning didn’t start off very well.. first, I woke up after having had bad dreams… and as I talked to you, Dusty fell off the windowsill and scratched me on the way down.

Owwwwie - it looks worse than it was

In the aftenoon, AF, A and the baby came by after A got picked up from school. H is in the orchestra and they’re playing downtown. So we headed downtown. It was exciting to watch them.. and it also made me miss being in a large band… I loved playing in front of others as part of the band in High School.. did I ever tell you I was in band? lol

Day 140 – April 28, 2011

This morning there was sunshine!!!

Dusty made sure to enjoy it as much as he could

I looked at the forecast for today and saw that there would be rain in the afternoon. I said “SCREW YOU, RAIN!” and wore a dress. Man, I guess I should’ve looked closer at the wind icons because it was super windy when I went out. I wore my parka so I was okay… At work, we waited for IS to come in as ND wanted to go for breakfast. I’d already had breakfast but went along anyway. I was putting my coat on when ND said we were just going to the cafeteria downstairs, so I left it behind. Once we were downstairs, I saw IS’ car out the front door and ND said we were going to McD’s. I expressed concern at the fact that I was wearing a dress and ND said I would be ok. He was WRONG! The wind kept trying to blow up my dress!! Anyway, we made it there and back without incident ๐Ÿ˜€

I had lunch scheduled with 2 people who started around the same time I had – RA & TA. RA now lives in Boston and works out of the same office I used to; she was in town for a few days. TA still works out of the Mississauga office. They had lunch brought in and had a very short lunch. It was good to catch up though ๐Ÿ™‚

In the evening, we hung out at home for a bit before we headed to dinner. My mom has this strange way of flicking the birds.

Angry Birds look awesome on the iPad

We had to teach her how to do it properly.

Then, we all went to another one of my favourite restaurants – The Pickle Barrel.

The parents

The girls - My mom's not that pale.. she was just really close to the flash

The drinks were huge!!

I had the mini burgers with goat cheese and smashed potatoes

It was all really good and we had a great time ๐Ÿ˜€ This was my last dinner w/the family for this trip ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Day 137 – April 25, 2011

Happy 9th work anniversary to me!!

Unfortunately for me, I still wasn’t feeling well so I stayed home. I slept a ton and I woke up and someone decided he needed to use a pillow as well…

In the afternoon, my mom called me from work [she had gone to work as she felt fine once we got home last night]ย and told me that I needed to start moving so I’d feel better. ย She suggested I go grocery shopping with my sister.

My sister's bags don't match the store!

We walked around for quite some time… she couldn’t decide on what she wanted and then she’d decide on things and go back for them… Eventually we finished and went to check out.

The only things I consumed today

My sister's purchases...

You may not notice it, but there’s some ย Laughing Cow cheese (known as La Vache Qui Rit in Canada) on the belt.ย It’s quite a shocker for my sister to be buying because she’s been grossed out of it by years.. ever since she got sick from eating the cheese dippers. The reason she bought it was so she could have it on some toast with smoked salmon.

Anyway, we went home and my sister left shortly thereafter… she had to put her groceries away. I watched TV and then got ready for work tomorrow.. I’ll be going back to the office.

Day 136 – April 24, 2011

This morning, we basically had the same routine as yesterday.. got up, showered, got ready, went downstairs for breakfast… the only difference this morning was that we were in a disagreement… I was upset about how my parents were behaving and my dad said he wanted to leave as soon as possible, so I figured it was best that I didn’t go see AH and started our drive back to Canada. I felt bad not going to see her for many reasons, so since I was driving, I turned around and drove back into Boston.

Driving on I-90/ Mass Pike

In true Boston form, the GPS got us lost.. I couldn’t remember exactly how to get to AH’s place but I had an idea… anyway once we finally got there, it was super nice out. We chatted and got caught up. It was really nice seeing her, after about half hour, we were back on the road. All was going well until I started to feel sick. Luckily, there weren’t any accidents and I was thankful for a CVS that was open to help. It took us forever to get back across the border (we didn’t get charged duty and the passport stamp procedure was much faster), but then my mom started to feel sick. We got home and unpacked the car. It was one long day..

Day 135 – April 23, 2011

After showering, dressing, and generally getting ready, my sister and I went downstairs to grab breakfast… the parents were already down there. It was a nice surprise that the hotel had more than a continental breakfast. The weather was rather crappy and rainy so we decided to go to the Burlington Mall first, then Target & TJ Maxx, then back to the Wrentham Outlet mall so my sister could finish shopping and my dad could return a shirt.

Yesterday, I was fine at the mall yesterday, but driving up I-95 past my old exit was overwhelming. I can say with certainty that I still hate Boston.

At Burlington Mall, my goal was to purchase items for our vacation. My sister and I spent some time at Forever 21 and I got a solid brown maxi dress and some earrings. I didn’t find anything at Lululemon (I wanted to get some crops but they only had solid black ones), and we went to Everything But Water where I got a couple of bathing suits. It wasn’t as tough as I thought it was going to be.. but it was all due to my personal shopper.

Next, we headed back down I-95 to Plainville/Wrentham and it was still raining…

You can't really tell but it was raining

We spent quite some time at TJ Maxx first (I didn’t buy anything) and we sent my dad off to Target while my mom & sis continued at TJ Maxx. I don’t remember what they purchased (if anything). At Target, my sister and I got the same nail polish (lol I know you care baby); it’s such a pretty colour ๐Ÿ˜€

Cute as a button

Back at Wrentham, my sister went through pretty much all the stores, and I got a couple of books.. these will be a surprise! Then our time was up and we were trying to get back on time. My dad misunderstood what time we were supposed to meet at and was upset that we were an hour late (we were 20 minutes late and I had tried calling him).

We went back to the hotel, then ordered food and picked it up. We also packed up our stuff and got ready to go back tomorrow. All the stores are closed, so we will go see my good friend AH and then we’ll be on our way home.

Day 134 – April 22, 2011

Today is a statutory holiday in Canada so I am the only one having to take a vacation day. I woke up to Dusty kneading me; I looked at the clock and it was almost 4am… we were supposed to be on the road at 3am. It turned out, only my sister set her alarm and she had set it for 2pm instead of 2am. We scrambled around and got ready to go.

Printing out the hotel confirmation and Buster watching intently

On our way to Boston (after the 2 hour wait at the border so I could get my passport stamped), we had to keep ourselves entertained.. I chatted with you for a bit and my sis mostly slept, especially as a co-pilot… but she was awake enough to try out the 3DS.

she liked it.. but playing w/the 3DS plus being in a moving car was not a good combination for her

Once we got to the Boston area, we went straight too the mall.

On their way to shop

We shopped until the mall closed (I got a dress and a pair of shoes), then we went to check into the hotel. We were pretty exhausted and fell asleep before 11. More shopping tomorrow!

Day 129 – April 17, 2011

This morning, I saw some stuff falling from the sky…

SNOW... in APRIL!! I thought it was April showers not April snow...

We just hung out at home during the day and in the evening, we pulled out the Wii for a…

Dance Party!

We had a lot of fun… even my dad played! After we were done playing “Just Dance 2,” we pulled out the Michael Jackson game Diana has. It was way tougher and only she and I played.

She beat me at Thriller...

It was still fun.. I didn’t take photos of us dancing because we all felt like such dorks haha

Tomorrow, my sister is off so I’m going to work from home to spend some more time with her ๐Ÿ™‚
