Day 150 – May 8, 2011

This morning, I woke up a little earlier that I wanted to (yet again!). I couldn’t figure out why the wireless network was so slow, so I decided to try to figure it out. It turns out that the router wasn’t broadcasting its SSID, but at least the network was private πŸ˜€ So I set up the wireless network on your mom’s laptop, so hopefully it will be used for more than Solitaire πŸ˜€

After a late breakfast and some chit chat, it was time for me to go.. but not before we took some photos

Your mom and her Mother's Day present

Your mom and me

Your mom and H

The trip was definitely too short.. but I’m glad I got to go πŸ™‚ Thanks L & H for having me over πŸ™‚

Day 149 – May 7, 2011

This morning, I slept in a little.. not too much because I had a bunch of things to do! Β I tried to unpack a bit, but that didn’t go over so well. I packed a night bag, and went to the grocery store to grab a couple of things. I started baking. I made the Vanilla Lime Pound Cake.. it took way longer than I remembered it taking 😦

I put my overnight bag in the car, fed the cats, got gas, and was on my way to Corpus! It took me 3 hours to get to your brother’s, but to actually drive to Corpus, it took almost 4 hours! Also, the GPS was a little off… luckily I was able to get back on track!

As soon as I got to Corpus, we went for dinner.

Rigatoni's

I had the chicken parm.. it was really good πŸ˜€

The flowers you sent your mom had already arrived!

So pretty!

Earlier this week, your brother went to see your mom and took her out to dinner. His girlfriend started this puzzle

this was a toughie!

and we tried to put some parts together.. but it wasn’t easy 😦 Once we were ready.. we played cards! We played 3 games and everyone won one. At midnight, H gave your mom her Mother’s Day present. The card was really sweet πŸ™‚ After the third game, we called it a night!

Day 148 – May 6, 2011

This morning, I was craving Mexican pastries so MF & I made a trip down to the Mexican bakery.

*drool*

At lunch time, I went to meet up with my friend SK at the House of Blues.

Houston HoB

SK was in town for the day. Since I had a late breakfast (mmmm pastries), we just went to Starbucks to get some drinks. After chatting for a drink, we went to run a couple of errands — he needed to go make a deposit and pay his cell phone bill.

Shortly after I got home, I saw this..

Turns out it wasn't the kitty love we thought it was... it was more motherly LOL

Poor little Tomasa.. there was no milk that was going to come out of that nipple!! I laughed and laughed and laughed and eventually she stopped.

The kitties were just hanging out looking sad... as though they knew what was going on

I felt so bad separating them but I was under strict orders not to bring home the tiny little kitty 😦

In the afternoon, it was time to drive back to Austin! I put the cats in their carriers, loaded the cats, and finally loaded the kitties. It wasn’t too bad of a drive.. except Eddie wasn’t very still for a lot of the drive.

Such a curious little one!

The drive was pretty uneventful otherwise.. and after 22.5 days of being away from Austin, I was home πŸ˜€

Day 143 – May 1st, 2011

This morning, I got to sleep in a little bit… the cats aren’t waking me up to pet them.. but I did wake up surrounded by cats.. Dusty, Eddie, and Tomasa (the girl kitty). We all got ready to go to your brother’s. We stopped by Best Buy to get your brother a gift card.. then we were on the road!

While we were at your brother’s, we got to see your two babies… they’re both doing okay πŸ™‚ On the way back, your mom called and I had to give her the bad news that I wasn’t going to visit her then {we were an hour away from her place plus I had left my GPS and my iPhone charger at MF’s place} so I made plans to visit her next weekend.

Driving back to Houston

Once we got back, we hung out for a bit.. and we decided we needed some more corn!! So we went back for more

Prepared corn and the frozen mango treat we also had last night

MF & I were debating whether it was the cheese or the pepper that made it taste different. Maybe it was both. I can’t believe the weekend’s over 😦

Day 142 – April 30, 2011

The alarm went off at 4:30 am. and I had to get up and shower… however, the water boiler is broken and won’t be fixed until later today.. so I went to boil some water. I got to the airport and the lady who checked me in [I can’t check myself in while traveling with Dusty] didn’t even weigh my bags!! I am thinking it’s because I’ve paid to travel with a pet and for a secondΒ bag [Air Canada doesn’t charge you for the first bag]. However, she said that my flight wasn’t until 8:40, not at 7:40 like I originally thought. An extra hour to spare at the airport..yay! I then realized I had left the Nintendo 3DS on the kitchen counter. D’OH!!!

As I was already awake and hungry, I went to Tim Hortons to get some food.

I gotta get rid of all of this Canadian change!!

Luckily, I had enough change so I didn’t have to use my debit card to pay for my egg sandwich with ham {it was a lot like an Egg McMuffin} combo with a tea. I sat down and ate… man the line grew way long while I was sitting there. After breakfast, I picked up a couple of magazines and a bottle of water, then went to the gate. The flight was on time and I slept for more than half of it.

Once we got to Houston, Dusty and I waited for our ride.

He was actually people watching and not hiding!!

After arriving at MF’s house, AF + kids arrived. We ordered pizza for lunch, and A played Just Dance 2 while AF & I chatted and looked at the magazines. We mostly just hung out that night… we did go to Fiesta to get some junk food at a stand… the diablito snow cones, corn in a cup, chips with salsa, and this frozen mango treat.

Oof.. so full but it was soooo good πŸ˜€

Day 136 – April 24, 2011

This morning, we basically had the same routine as yesterday.. got up, showered, got ready, went downstairs for breakfast… the only difference this morning was that we were in a disagreement… I was upset about how my parents were behaving and my dad said he wanted to leave as soon as possible, so I figured it was best that I didn’t go see AH and started our drive back to Canada. I felt bad not going to see her for many reasons, so since I was driving, I turned around and drove back into Boston.

Driving on I-90/ Mass Pike

In true Boston form, the GPS got us lost.. I couldn’t remember exactly how to get to AH’s place but I had an idea… anyway once we finally got there, it was super nice out. We chatted and got caught up. It was really nice seeing her, after about half hour, we were back on the road. All was going well until I started to feel sick. Luckily, there weren’t any accidents and I was thankful for a CVS that was open to help. It took us forever to get back across the border (we didn’t get charged duty and the passport stamp procedure was much faster), but then my mom started to feel sick. We got home and unpacked the car. It was one long day..

Day 135 – April 23, 2011

After showering, dressing, and generally getting ready, my sister and I went downstairs to grab breakfast… the parents were already down there. It was a nice surprise that the hotel had more than a continental breakfast. The weather was rather crappy and rainy so we decided to go to the Burlington Mall first, then Target & TJ Maxx, then back to the Wrentham Outlet mall so my sister could finish shopping and my dad could return a shirt.

Yesterday, I was fine at the mall yesterday, but driving up I-95 past my old exit was overwhelming. I can say with certainty that I still hate Boston.

At Burlington Mall, my goal was to purchase items for our vacation. My sister and I spent some time at Forever 21 and I got a solid brown maxi dress and some earrings. I didn’t find anything at Lululemon (I wanted to get some crops but they only had solid black ones), and we went to Everything But Water where I got a couple of bathing suits. It wasn’t as tough as I thought it was going to be.. but it was all due to my personal shopper.

Next, we headed back down I-95 to Plainville/Wrentham and it was still raining…

You can't really tell but it was raining

We spent quite some time at TJ Maxx first (I didn’t buy anything) and we sent my dad off to Target while my mom & sis continued at TJ Maxx. I don’t remember what they purchased (if anything). At Target, my sister and I got the same nail polish (lol I know you care baby); it’s such a pretty colour πŸ˜€

Cute as a button

Back at Wrentham, my sister went through pretty much all the stores, and I got a couple of books.. these will be a surprise! Then our time was up and we were trying to get back on time. My dad misunderstood what time we were supposed to meet at and was upset that we were an hour late (we were 20 minutes late and I had tried calling him).

We went back to the hotel, then ordered food and picked it up. We also packed up our stuff and got ready to go back tomorrow. All the stores are closed, so we will go see my good friend AH and then we’ll be on our way home.
